Born to French and Japanese parents, Nathalie Agematsu grew up in Japan and the United States and then moved to France in 2000 to attend the American University of Paris. After earning a degree in international communications, she joined the fashion industry as a buyer and then transitioned into the field of international magazine publishing. In 2012, the desire to communicate the work of artists and craftsmen from her native Japan led her to create Shopu, an online shop which offers a carefully curated collection of objects mixing design, art and craftsmanship: " My Japanese grandfather taught me to always appreciate the beauty and imperfections of everyday objects and to respect the work of the craftsman behind every piece." These " natural, sincere and safe" pieces are all thoughtfully selected and define the "simply beautiful."
